The Jazz Appreciation Society of Syracuse will ring in the holidays with its annual Christmas jam session at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the Syracuse Suds Factory, 320 S. Clinton St., in Armory Square. Admission is free, and all musicians and vocalists are invited to sit in.
The Dec. 14 jam session marks the third anniversary of JASS’s affiliation with Syracuse Suds, the popular tavern in the historic Neal & Hyde Building, at the corner of Walton and South Clinton streets.
“We’re very pleased that the Suds Factory has added JASS to its regular lineup of jazz and R&B performances on Wednesday evenings,” said JASS President Bobby Morris. Jam sessions will continue to celebrate New Orleans-style traditional jazz there every other month, Morris said.
The jam session audience can expect to hear tunes such as “Basin Street Blues” and “Bourbon Street Parade” as well as seasonal songs like “Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow.”
Syracuse Suds Factory now offers one of the city’s most versatile drinking-and-dining experiences. Its own BrickHouse Brew has won praise from beer-drinkers near and far. In addition to its own original beers, the tavern serves brews from around the world, and its food menu complements its beer menu. Besides offering burgers, pizza, tacos and melts, the Suds Factory serves beef stew, bratwurst, chicken wings, salads and a prize-winning chili.
